As some of you might have seen on my Channel or on my Twitter, I have made a new scetch on my YouTube, that went up yesterday morning. I was more than suprised about all the positive feedback that I got for it.
For those of you who just started following me recently, my main channel used to be mainly scetches and convention vlogs, back in the day (2013), when I started making videos. Of course, these videos aren't there anymore, since YouTube merched with Google back then, they had to change all their license agreements in terms of music, and when back then 27 seconds of whatever music were allowed, they wiped out pretty much all my audio within a week and without further notice.
The Old, The New, THe Ugly
Now, I am really glad I got to give my channel a makeover when I moved to the UK.
My style changed and my views began going up a lot more then back in time, when I filmed badly focused scetches in my attic apartment.
My editing, the lighting, and of course my voice got better throughout college and since I started listening to what my subscribers had to say, it gradually improved.
Going the extra step and making a video in (my still pretty basic) japanese, to thank my japanese followers (which make up more than 80% of my audience), and especially thanking the girls (75% of my audience is female, with an average age between 20 and 35) with this, was something I was looking forward to.
A highly mentioned request from my average audience members was to dress up more androgynous, and I tried my best.
REQUESTS & REALITY
Another very common request I get is to include parts or often people from my private life, which I generally oppose due to the fact that neither my family, nor my friends are inclined to make videos with me, nor are they sidekicks or material for potential views. If this means I will lose followership, then be it so, I can live without the superficial audience of people who will go ahead and objectify their latest YouTube couple, they are obsessed with.
In the latest Q&A, releasing in September, I had to get really serious and hold back a lot not to be mean. I get a lot of questions of clever people who want to follow my path to be a model, and ask me over and over in many different ways to tell them how to do it. Every single Q&A I do, I have to sort out a lot of these questions beforehand, as I am not a career advisor, but merely someone lucky with a camera.
Alongisde these requests on "How can I be a model in Japan" I got some private mails of people asking me to introduce them to agencies, doing free translation work (good luck with that),or even threatening me to give out contact information of my agency.
The sad truth is that I am not a shortcut for any of these people, and a lot of these mails directly go into the trash folder.
One mail especially, coming from a girl who used to bash me for looking better herself on a blog, stood out and I am not going into too much detail about it, I just want to add that these people especially are the reason why I am not giving out advice or help to anyone. It is not a case of me not wanting to help anyone, I just don't want to help the bad people. And since you never know who is behind these mails, I chose to just not help anyone anymore.
I was really excited to film more different videos lately, to take on requests and get out of that box of making generic YouTube videos like XYZ Challenge or My Morning Routine, which has been done so many times in so many different ways, I don't even want to continue those trends.
Instead, I decided that from now on I will try to do my best and make videos in a higher quality, to make them more enjoyable for you guys as well. If you want to help me doing that, I have a PATREON running, where you can support me, but to be fair, every view and every nice feedback, be it a thumbs up or a nice comment, help me enough to find out what you want to see next.
